I Confess...I'm a little afraid of these...

First, the taste:It looks a like a piece of chocolate candy. As a result, when you start to bite into one, chocolate candy is what you expect. It's not what you get. The first taste is a bit chocolaty and a bit chalky. It isn't bad - no bitterness or aftertaste - but it simply isn't what you expect. However, by the second and third tastes, I found that I liked them. It's not candy, but the taste was mild enough and inoffensive. It wouldn't ever be something I crave, but I wouldn't fear the taste.Do they Work?I get the three o'clock munchies at work, so I've been using these instead of hitting the snack machines downstairs. At only 15 calories and .5 grams of fat and sugar-free, these are a better snack option. I find them very filling with no (ahem) unpleasant bodily side effects.So why am I a little afraid?On the back of the package is a dire warning. A warning that I don't see in the product description on the page here.It says, and I quote, "Taking this product without adequate fluid may cause it to swell and block your throat or esophagus and may cause choking. Do not take this product if you have difficulty in swallowing. If you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product, seek immediate medical attention."Oh and, for you folks with nut or soy allergies, there is a warning about that as well.Now, I don't know exactly how this product works, but the first warning implies that what the product does is to swell once in your stomach to mimic fullness. I don't know - maybe that's how many appetite suppressants work.The problem is that after reading that, my imagination takes over. Even though I'm drinking plenty of water, I imagine that I feel the product still in my throat. Maybe I'll lose that particular psychological effect soon, but I don't know.So, will I still use it?I got used to the taste pretty quickly and I definitely feel full, but I've got to get over the fear (and purely psychological feeling) of choking on the product. For now, I'll have to say that I'm really uncertain.

Does settle the appetite

I'm going to take a slightly more optimistic opinion of these little chews than some of the other reviews on here. Although they aren't exactly tasty, they are surprisingly filling, which I am excited about. As for the "choking hazard" warning, that does concern me a little bit, but as long as you chew well I couldn't imagine the average person choking on one.First things first, let's talk taste. The chocolate taste is subtle with faint sweetness but nothing overpowering. You can taste the fiber, but it's not bad. Overall, not delicious, but not nasty, which is exactly what I want from an "appetite chew". I want something edible that will quickly silence a roaring stomach or keep me from ordering McDonald's when I just have a hint of hunger pain. I do not want something so tasty that I'll eat the whole bag before I realize what I've done. For me, these do the trick. I chew two and I'm satisfied for a least 2 hours or more. Were I on a strict diet, I think these would be life-savers between meals.Nutritionally I'm impressed too. 0g of sugar, 15 calories, 0.5g of fat. It's almost like eating nothing, which you also want. There's also some natural stuff in there that's supposed to promote weight loss, such as konjac root, banaba leaf extract, green tea leaf and maqui berry. Don't know much about those, but at least they're not sugar and corn syrup.A bag comes with 30 chews and is currently priced at $20.00. Now that I'm not excited about. Although I really like the idea of this product and think they could really be beneficial to losing weight, a price tag that high is a little insane in my opinion. I'd give these 5/5 stars if the bag was $10 or less.As for the choking hazard, it's a little spooky I admit, but I haven't had any near-choking experiences and doubt I ever will. The chews are slightly more dense than a Starburst. If you have problems swallowing, I would head the warning and either avoid these or keep a glass of water nearby, but if not, you'll be fine. Just chew thoroughly.OVERALL: I believe these work incredibly well as bite-sized appetite-controlling goodies. The taste isn't great, but that's GOOD! You don't want to eat these like their candy, they're more for hunger emergencies. Personally I wouldn't pay the current price, but hey, if you're dedicated to losing weight, I would spring for a bag to see if they work. It may be worth it!

I tried both the berry and chocolate fudge products, and have similar feedback.PROS- I find that they really do satisfy the 10 am and 3 pm hunger pangs- Low calorie (15/chew)CONS- I really didn't enjoy this taste so much. It's a bit chalky and the chocolate flavor is very different, not what you'd think when you read "chocolate fudge."- Very expensive, but then again, when you're on any kind of dieting plan, you stick with it if it is expensive (investment).- Should be used in concert with the Sensa system, which can be pricey- Has warnings about drinking water with it, and although I had no problems, you should always pay attention to warnings.It's hard to take the suggestion to just eat healthy snacks seriously - if many of us were up for that, we'd already be doing it, right? Many people have behavioral issues that cause them to overeat or eat the wrong foods, and this system, like any system meant to help with eating habits, can help some people to control hunger and lose weight.
